This one is called a "VFR Terminal Area Chart" and is a larger scale (1:250,000) for use around high-traffic airport areas.The symbol refers to an "outdoor theater" and could also be used to indicate a stage or similar structure. This image was scanned from the Baltimore-Washington VFR Terminal Area Chart. The theater depicted is the Family Drive-In in Stephens City, Virginia, just south of Winchester and west of Washington, DC. Aviation charts are available from most small airports, or the General Aviation terminal at larger airports. There are also plenty of mail order companies that supply charts of the entire world, though foreign symbols may differ. |
